Sitting in a cab. Stopped at a traffic light. Looked off to the right. What did we see? A Peruvian restaurant called Tanta. (www.tantachicago.com) Looks very interesting. Having enjoyed Peruvian food in Lima and always up for a Pisco Sour, well, we have to make it back here, and quickly!! And quickly we did — in fact, later that night!! And what a wonderful experience it was!! So much so that we returned to Tanta on two more occasions over the next three days. The food is “incredibly excellent!” The variety is superb. The presentation is “original” and the service we experienced was outstanding – from the front door desk receptionist, to the bar tenders, to our server — it was truly a wonderful experience.
I recommended Tanta to a complete stranger who I met in a cab. By pure coincidence we ran into each other at a different establishment a day later. His comment to me – “thanks for the recommendation Doug – it is the best meal I have ever had in Chicago.” Not too shabby an endorsement from a gentleman who is the CEO of a 12 restaurant group in New Orleans!
So, on your next trip to Chicago we HIGHLY recommend you put Tanta at the top of your list of restaurants to visit. I can guarantee that you will not regret it. In fact you too will be recommending it to complete strangers in your cab! Enjoy Tanta!
